This week I will be sharing Abdisalam Ali´s -Stichting Kaalo Nederland Foundations update!
To refresh your mind …
Abdisalam founded the KAALO foundation in 1994 because he wanted to provide support to the vulnerable communities in Somalia. He moved to Holland in 1991. The projects in Somalia are mainly in Puntland. That’s in the most North-Eastern part of Somalia.
The last stories of Abdisalam and KAALO where about the empowerment project for women whereby KAALO offers a two-year scholarship program for 30 young unemployed women from underprivileged families and their Cholera action plan.
In the story of today we will highlight KAALO´s Local Fundraising Courses but first we want to pass on our congratulations!
The successful SOLAR School project of KAALO Nederland was picked up by Nugaal Joint Awards and KAALO Nederland has been given the award of NGO of the year 2024 in the category of best social impact project (sustainable education). The award was handed over to Abdirizak Shire Eli of the local NGO.

Abdisalam: “We feel very honored, and the award will be a good motivation to stimulate our efforts and the development of education that we always stand for. “
This is a great achievement and well deserved. But Abdisalam and his team have been very busy in the past months because they started up there Local Fundraising courses:
Abdisalam:” In January of this year we started our Local Fundraising courses at our KAALO Training center in Garoowe(Puntland). This course is in collaboration with Wilde Ganzen - Change the Game Academy. Our participants are mainly local NGO´s, youth organizations and some local community members who would like to learn more about fundraising.”

Abdisalam:”For us it is important to be sustainable. If we raise our funds locally, we will create better local ownership. Within a few years we hope to get at least 60% of our funding from local funds.”
We will be following up on Abdisalam and the projects of KAALO Nederland. For more information you can visit their website: www.kaalonederland.org
