Today I would like to introduce Local Changemaker Afi Koto van Stichting Femme - Congo
Afi: “ I was born in Kuman Apoti in the Kpalimé region of Togo /Africa) and have lived in the Netherlands since 2008. I obtained my Baccalaureate in Company Administration in Togo. Unfortunately, I lost my mother at the age of 15. She was a strong woman with a passion for study and work, and her example shaped my resilience.”

Afi: “After marrying my Dutch partner I moved to the Netherlands. This new life offered opportunities and inspired me to contribute to my community in Togo.”
Afi: “I founded Stichting Femme to support girls’ education, vocational training, and access to clean water. My dream is for women to live with dignity and independence.”
Afi: “We have supported more than 100 girls in school with guidance toward a profession. The local community helps identify beneficiaries. Fundraising takes place in the Netherlands through donors and events. The impact is visible and makes me happy: many girls now have diplomas and their own income.”

Afi: “Our local team in Togo works with parents, teachers, and village committees. We make decisions together to ensure real community ownership. In this way we can achieve many things.”
Afi:” We have a vision for the future and there are many things we still want to achieve, like support over 200 girls, build a training center, expand water projects, and strengthen the organization, both Togo and the Netherlands.”
